Novel Casting Call: "K" is for Kinsey Millhone

The Sue Grafton Alphabet series was my first mystery novel I can remember reading (at an embarrassingly recent age). I, of course, started with the first in the series, A is for Alibi, which was written in 1982. It's a quick and easy ready with a little bit of action and a spicy moment or two. I've read a few more and continue to collect the series. Depending on your age you could probably go to your mom's bookshelf and find at least one of these in the mix.

You'll read this series and start hunting for the Lifetime adaptation, I mean they have to exist because this would be the perfect series. But sadly no, there are none to be found and probably won't ever be, as it is a known fact that Sue Grafton stated in multiple interviews it was something she wasn't interested in. But that doesn't mean a girl can't dream!

Okay here is a short snip of the characters, you can find a full bio of Kinsey Millhone here.
Kinsey Millhone is in her late 20s, she's kind of a loner but not in like a creeper killer vibe, more of a no-nonsense female vibe. She lives modestly in a studio apartment/garage, her landlord, Henry, is friendly. I know he is retired but I don't remember if he's a retired baker who creates crossword puzzles for the newspaper on the side or if he is a retired crossword creator who likes to bake but it's one of the two. Then there is Rosie who owns the tavern down the street where Kinsey can often be found, not because she gets drunk there but it's the closest food joint and she doesn't cook. She will also meet people there from time to time or catch up on work in one of the booths.

Okay now on to the fun part.
*Did anyone else ever do this in high school? We did for Ender's Game, obviously, it was a favorite as was my teacher. Shout out to Mrs. Stone, 9th grade English.

Here are my picks for the three main characters for the series. Let me know what you think and if you've ever read any of the books and what you think.

Brie Larson is my top pick, I loved her in Short Term 12. I think the character here and Kinsey would be very similar. She can do plain but still hold the weight of being the main character. And by that I mean she doesn't have to be flashy to stand out.

Helen Hunt is my choice for the second half of the series. Sue Grafton mentioned in an interview that Kinsey aged a year ever 2 books or so. So by the time she made it to "Y" she was in her 50s. Helen would be perfect. I'm thinking of her persona in Twister (if you have never see Twister do yourself a favor and watch it, you uncultured swine)

Ellen Page is my number 2 young Kinsey Millhone, she totally has the independent act down and probably ages at the same rate as Kinsey so it would be perfect!

Henry is notably kind, these 2 are so funny and sassy, I think they would be sweet but also give a Mr. Henry a little bit of an edge.

Rosie is an obvious choice, the description of her is basically the character Red from OITNB.

And from now on when I read these books this is who I will picture (I already pictured Rosie as Kate Mulgrew).
